According to disaster management authorities, a sudden burst of floodwater from a swollen river damaged a number of residences and establishments. The flash floods were caused by a heavy downpour.
Authorities stated that flash floods wreaked havoc on the homes of at least 270 families in several areas in Cebu. The villages of Bawo, Poblacion, and Ibabao were also affected. As the flood reached waist-level, residents were evacuated to a nearby sports complex, no casualties have been recorded.
The provincial government of Cebu said it already dispatched relief assistance to the flood-hit areas.
